About This Project
Sitting high on CityPoint near Prospect Hill in Waltham, MA, 245 5th Ave is a prominent new office/lab flex property with an incredible view of the Cambridge Reservoir and surrounding business district.
Featuring 70,000+ square feet of custom unitized curtain wall, the 2500UT system incorporates high performance glass, glazed ACM infills and alternating 12″ and 6″ deep custom tapered fins. Punched out within the unitized wall is another 10,000 square feet of triple-glazed 1600UT curtain wall with projected 24″ box-out accents.
Unitized wall sections spanned 15′ in height passing floor slabs with module widths alternating between 2′ and 6’/7′. Units were hung primarily through the use of slab supported mobile cranes. The Northwest facing box-out features a 25′ tall single-span curtain wall with 15′ lower glass panels weighing over 800 pounds each.
Ground level ACM cladding and a frameless glass entry with glass revolver and monumental insulated glass doors round out the scope on this titan project for Galaxy Glass. Design assist and engineering work started in early 2021 and construction wrapped up at the end of 2024.
With plenty of accent & up-lighting… this one is worth seeing before/after daylight hours.
